What is your style? Do you like to wear dresses all the time and look your best? Or maybe you like to wear your favorite pair of blue jeans a t-shirt and your newest pair of TOMs or flip flops. How do you wear those clothes? Are the skin tight? How much of your skin is showing? I’m not just talking about your arms. Is your stomach, chest and/or legs showing a lot? Don’t get me wrong, Shorts are ok to wear but how short are they? Your dresses too? are they showing pretty much everything save your rear end?
In 1 Timothy 2:9 Peter tells Timothy “I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes”
God’s desire is for us to be pure and holy. And Ladies, when you show a lot of skin not only are you defiling the body God gave you, but you are also cause guys to lust after what they see. One of my favorite verses in 1 Corinthians is this-It helps me to remember what I am in Christ and what he wants for me-because his will is so much better than mine. It says “…Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God. You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. I have this verse in a frame on my wall. When I feel like wearing something that shows a little too much, it makes me re-evaluate. If there is something that you really like but it shows too much what can you do? Put a black t-shite ( long or cap-sleeved) under that shirt to cover up your girls, wear a pair of leggings under your ‘mini’ dresses and short shorts. There are so many ways for you to look good with out compromising your bodies! Tell me, What do you do when you have an out-fit you really like to wear but it shows too much? What do you do to ‘Mod-it-up’? (my way of saying ‘make it so it’s modest’ LOL) Drop me a note anytime! I’d love to hear from you! And, by the way, it’s ok to take pride in dressing modestly. God takes pride in it too, knowing that you aren’t compromising yourself and that you are staying true to him. Just, don’t become vain and self absorbed-that isn’t good either. 😉
