Tea, Face Masks, and doing for ME?

Me Night collage

Last night I took an hour to treat myself. I used the good china for tea and had a dead sea salt-seaweed face mask treatment! Then, I rinsed my face, put on the special moisturizer that I came up with, and sat down to watch reruns of old shown from the 70’s.

I am a firm believer in taking some “me” time every once and a while. Something you probably don’t know about me is I have MAJOR eczema. A lot of times it covers all my arms, face a portion of my back, my legs and even on my scalp. Those of you who have/had eczema know that it can affect how you see yourself. I grew up and all the kids in school didn’t want to be around me because they didn’t want to catch my “disease”.

So this last month and a half I have been struggling to get my eczema under control and haven’t been feeling very good about myself in the process.

So, I guess this is my thoughts for today; sometimes people feel like they’re being selfish because they’re taking time to do something for them self. Don’t. God want us to take care of ourselves too. If we run ourselves so ragged, how can we possibly continue advancing the Kingdom of God?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (NIV)

It’s that simple. Honor God with your bodies….take care of your body…take care of yourself.

I feel you Kristen! Excema is the worst! I think that’s such a wonderful idea to just take some time for yourself like that, I feel like so many times in life we get so caught up in doing things for and with other people we don’t set aside enough time for ourselves.
