Hello Everyone! Sorry for the short absence!
Life has gotten a little busy…some may even say messy.
Within the last week or so, I have baked five different recipes, cleaned the house, TRIED to do some writing and, and also have had my emotions get the better of me.
That being said, I want to share a few of the thoughts I have had through all of this.
Emotions can be a really good thing. They are what inspire people to do great things. If it weren’t for feelings and emotions, many of the world’s heroes wouldn’t have accomplished anything. It’s the passion that drives a person to doing something great.
But, emotions can also be really bad, if we let them go unchecked.
Back in March, I went to my favorite bookstore in the city, and I bought a new journal. The very first entry that I wrote in it, was something I felt God deeply branding upon my heart. This is what is was; “Desire gone unchecked can twist into something poisonous and toxic. This is why we need to give Christ our desires so he can work in us, and help us not to fall into sin.”
Which actually ties perfectly into what the Bible says! “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 NIV)
And “Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.” (Psalm 37:5 NLT)
This is one thing I have made mistakes about time and time again. There is something I desire, but I forget to ask God to take it and do with it as according to his will.
I think, sometimes, it’s difficult for us to give up our desires to God because deep down we already know it’s not something he is going to say yes to. Maybe because he knows it’s not good for us, but maybe it’s because-no matter how good of a thing our desire may be-it just isn’t in alignment with the GREATNESS of what he has for us.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV)
This is definitely something I know I need to work on. Remembering his plans are greater than mine, and surrendering all of my desires to him so that his good and perfect will may be done in my life! It’s all part of that learning to trust God, so that he may create an Unfading Beauty in us, that will never diminish or fade away!
