“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)
The last couple of weeks have been FULL of spiritual attacks.
About a month ago, God really started pressing upon my heart that it is time for Christians to put aside all the fluff and start returning to him. Following and trusting him with pure abandon.
I realized that it was time to quit playing games and really, truly follow him. No matter the cost.
This realization has launched me into something I never saw coming. a time of pure fellowship, praise and worship with the Lover of my soul.
As I started speaking out some of the things God has been laying on my heart several months, I began to get spiritually attacked. Not being able to write anything-or not being able to put into words what I wanted to write-along with so many other kinds of attacks.
“Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12 (NLT)
“Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.” 1 Peter 4:12-14 (NLT)
It is inevitable that we are going to go through times when we will be attacked-sometimes it’ll be just inner attacks, sometimes the devil will use others–their words and actions–to attack us spiritually-sometimes it will be a physical attack and some days we will feel so heavy that we just won’t want to get up in the morning. But, it’s in those moments that we need to say aloud “Jesus you are my Strength. Please help me make it through this day. I feel so weary, and I just need to hold on to you,”
Spiritual warfare is something that no one likes. but, at the same time, without it, there wouldn’t be any kind of spiritual growth.
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4 (NLT)
“Consider it an opportunity for GREAT joy” we are told. GREAT joy! We can have joy in knowing that we are growing. It leads us into having a greater dependence upon God.
As I close, I want to leave you with a short passage from Psalms. If ever you are being spiritually attacked, remember this;
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psalm 91:1-4 (NLT)
Rest in the shadow of the Almighty, dear ladies. He alone, is our refuge!
