Is Your Faith Easily Swayed or Firmly Stayed?

Easily Swayed or Firmly Stayed_

Have you ever had a time in your life where you felt absolutely shook to your core?

Maybe you-or someone close to you-received an unexpected medical diagnosis, or you lost your home to a fire or you lost your job-that one thing that was keeping your family afloat-and in one moment, it was all gone. Or maybe, you face a situation in your life where your Christian beliefs aren’t of popular opinion and to speak them-or even just own up to them-might bring ridicule and negative outcomes upon you from those around you or in your life.

Every single person is faced at least once in their life where they have to make the choice to either stand firm in their faith or let the winds of popular opinion come and blow them over.

How Deep Are Your Roots?

” “But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” ” Jeremiah 17:7-8

Time and again the Bible talks about having roots that are firmly planted in God and his word so that we aren’t “blown about by every wind of new teaching”. (Eph. 4:14)

The modern world is full of all sorts of ideologies, beliefs and religions and it is hard to leave the house and not run into one of them in some way.

That is why Christians need to have both of their feet planted firmly in the soil of God’s word; so that when the winds of false teachings or hardships blow, they won’t blow us over.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 7:24-27

The Bible is the Christian’s lifeline; without it, we would sink and drown.

A Christian's lifeline

“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” -Psalm 1:1-3

Not only is it our lifeline, it is our first line of defense; our weapon of choice against the attacks of the enemy!

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12

“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” -Ephesians 6:13-17 (Emphasis Added)

If you want to have any kind of faith that is going to stand firm through the storms of life-to be any measure of a warrior woman-you need to wield your sword, and to wield it with any measure of accuracy, you need to know how to use it. To know how to use it, you need to study it and practice it and commit to memory it’s weight and the authority you have when you use it.

So, are you going to wield your sword with accuracy and precision, or are you going to let it be, only pick it up when you need it most and hope that just maybe it’ll hit the target you’re aiming for?

The choice is up to you…
